Avaya has released details from its Corporate Responsibility Report, highlighting the positive changes it has made to address complex challenges like climate change, equality, responsible consumption, community, and economic development.

According to the report, the accomplishments achieved so far by Avaya have contributed to various United Nations goals for sustainable development.

Additionally, the Corporate Responsibility Report offers an overview of the various Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives implemented by Avaya. These will help the business achieve its goal of creating best experiences for customers, employees, partners, suppliers, and global communities alike.

The Value of Giving Back

Avaya’s CEO, Alan Masarek said “Giving Back” sits at the core of Avaya’s strategic foundation, inspiring their goal to deliver experiences that matter.

The investments the company makes in its employees, partners, community, suppliers, and customers have an ongoing ripple effect on its future. Avaya believes it has a responsibility to make the right choices with all of its corporate resources.

As the “experience economy” continues to grow, every experience is important, according to Avaya. In the same way, every decision matters when it comes to protecting and preserving the environment.

As such, Avaya has underlined its commitment to prioritizing and championing environmental stewardship, working hard to reduce the environmental effects of its solutions, activities, products, and services.

Moreover, the vendor has established a strategy to facilitate the end-of-life management of everything from devices and packaging to batteries.

By thinking carefully about product design and stewardship throughout the product lifecycle, Avaya believes its technology can help other companies minimise their carbon footprint.

Achieving Results

The Avaya Corporate Responsibility Report shows the company reduced its total emissions by 1.2 percent between the years of 2020 and 2021.

Additionally, the brand has set near-term and business-wide reduction targets for the future, according to climate science. These targets have been submitted to the Science Based Targets Initiative for their validation.

Some of the key highlights from this year’s report include:

  • Avaya has developed a range of educational experiences, assisted businesses with growth, and supported people with disabilities to address a range of social needs.
  • The company added “Inclusion” to its core cultural principles, to reinforce it’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging strategies.
  • Avaya hosted the seventh “Month of Giving” annual campaign in the previous year, bringing partners, employees, and suppliers together from around the globe to raise over $140,000 for the partner brand, Save the Children.
  • Ongoing efforts for corporate social responsibility in India have focused on enhancing education quality, and improving access to health and education throughout the region. Funds from the Avaya India CSR initiative supported more than 8,500 young adults and children between the years of 2020 and 2021.
  • Avaya launched the new SPARK WEEK in February this year to boost employee engagement with educational sessions intended to inspire and enlighten staff.

According to the Director of ESG and Philanthropy at Avaya, Reeva Kymer, Avaya’s strategy is focused on doing the right thing for everyone. Kymer noted they’re keen to be a part of a company committed to making the world a better place.
