Integration-platform-as-a-service (IPaaS) provider Sparkle is partnering with distributed ledger technology company Hedera Hashgraph to offer digital eReceipts and digital coupon apps.

Sparkle’s offering is based around transforming retailers digital adoption by making disparate systems work together. The solution creates a low- or no-code common interface enabling different APIs in the fintech, loyalty, coupon and eReceipt spaces to work together.

Hedera Hashgraph, meanwhile, operates a public ledger similar to blockchain. While operating in a distributed fashion to validate transactions as blockchain does, it utilises a different method.

The partnership will see Sparkle’s applications deployed across point-of-sale (POS) networks across North America via POS hardware and software provider Retail Data Systems (RDS).

Judd Ferrer, Founder of Sparkle, said: “By partnering with RDS and leveraging the Hedera network and services, we aim to enable retailers of all sizes to reap the benefits of digital solutions. The launch of these apps will represent a major step in the mass adoption of blockchain technology among consumers and retailers.”

Universal Digital Coupons from The Coupon Bureau will also be accessible via API for retailers to connect, validate coupons and retrieve offer details.

“Without the need for costly and lengthy integrations which can be as much as $1M and 12 months or longer, we are empowering retailers to quickly and cost-effectively adopt a digital first strategy through our managed iPaaS platform and the APIs we have connected with to date which, in turn, will greatly benefit their end customers,” said Adam Doran, Chief Commercial Officer at Sparkle.

Sparkle will leverage the Hedera Consensus Service API to timestamp and order events, verify eReceipts and ensure data on real-time transactions is logged and verified.

Christian Hasker, CMO of Hedera Hashgraph, said: “We are thrilled for Sparkle to be leveraging the Hedera Consensus Service for new and innovative digital retail solutions. By working with the team at Sparkle, we are showing how distributed ledger technology can be utilised for the benefit of retailers, consumers, and technology providers alike. By working with our retail users in this way, we will be able to ensure efficiency and security throughout the retail ecosystem.”
