Salesforce and its subsidiary Slack have announced new integrations, with the CRM leader saying the enterprise communication platform would serve as a single source of truth for businesses.

Salesforce acquired Slack in a $27.7bn deal last month, saying that the acquisition enabled the creation of a combined offering which connects people across the Salesforce platform in a single interface. Slack is duly becoming the interface for Salesforce Customer 360, with every Salesforce cloud and industry solution integrated with Slack.

“Salesforce and Slack are creating the digital HQ to help every company adapt and get back to growth in this digital-first, work anywhere world,” said Bret Taylor, President and Chief Operating Officer of Salesforce

“This is just the beginning for the Slack-First Customer 360 – which will fundamentally reshape how work gets done by connecting employees, customers and partners and the apps they use on a single platform.”

According to data from McKinsey, nine out of ten companies plan to adopt a hybrid approach going forwards, though only a third feel prepared. Salesforce posited “Slack-First Customer 360” as a response to that fact, helping to centralise and coordinate information from all enterprise software accessible from anywhere.

Salesforce said pre-built integrations between Slack and Salesforce ranged from sales, including digital deal rooms, across to customer support with collaborative slack channels and marketing via automatically updated Slack channels reflecting marketing journey progress.

The announcement came alongside the company’s Success from Anywhere: Your Digital HQ event, which featured customer stories from the likes of IBM and T-Mobile, who both discussed how Slack and Salesforce were helping them improve customer and employee focuses, as well as make faster decisions.

“The hybrid workplace requires the right digital tools to keep customers and employees connected, productive, and engaged,” said Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM. “The combined power of Salesforce and Slack is helping IBM deliver more value across every customer and employee interaction.”
