The customer experience industry as a whole is booming in terms of venture capital activity, with five companies crossing the $1bn unicorn valuation threshold in the last three weeks alone. Here, we examine the offerings of each of those companies, ordered by the date they announced their latest funding. 

5. Culture Amp– 29/7 

Employee experience platform Culture Amp offers employee engagement and performance management tools to drive insights and suggested actions for employees. Utilising behavioural science and data analytics, its platform is designed to boost engagement, development, performance and retention, including employee surveys, conversations, goal tracking and development reviews. The company’s latest $100mn Series F funding round was led by TDM Growth Partners and Sequioa Capital China. 

4. MindTickle– 3/8 

Sales readiness platform MindTickle offers a coaching platform for salespeople with sales readiness features such as skill development, knowledge reinforcement and execution. It recently launched an AI and machine-learning enhanced conversation intelligence solution known as Call AI, allowing closer and more targeted improvements of indicators such as win rates and quota attainment. The company’s latest $100mn round was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. 

3. FullStory– 4/8 

Digital experience intelligence platform FullStory features real-time analytics and insights into digital products, experiences and mobile applications, helping customer success, engineering and marketing teams improve the user experience. Customer behaviour data is presented via dashboards and other forms of visualisations including heatmaps. The company’s latest $103mn Series D round was led by Permira, with the company saying it would use the funds to expand internationally and further develop its platform. 

2. Bluecore– 5/8 

Retail technology company Bluecore is based around boosting customer loyalty and ecommerce growth by maximising shopper and product data. Its Bluecore Communicate, Bluecore Site, and Bluecore Advertise platforms help brands personalise communications with consumers across channels, leveraging AI to automate manual processes and centralise marketing activity through a single interface. The company’s latest $125mn Series E was led by Georgian, with Bluecore saying it would use the funds to further invest in AI and analytics.  

1. People.ai – 11/8

Revenue operations and intelligence platform People.ai offers technologies to increase revenue generated by salespeople. Leveraging AI in its SmartData, SmartMatch and PeopleGraph platforms, its offerings are utilised by the likes of AppDynamics, DataRobot, Ivanti, Okta, and Zoom. Its latest $100mn Series D round was led by Akkadian Ventures and Mubadala Capital, with the funds being said to support development of its SmartData platform as it expands into new industries.
