Unified communications has been the driving force behind telephone system upgrades for a number of years now and despite the industry not showing any signs of slowing, there’s a new kid on the block which seems to be adding some extra sparkle to UC sales.
WCC stands for Workstream Communications and Collaboration and its set to drive new heights of sales across the unified communications sector in 2017.
Team collaboration software (another way of saying WCC) is bring teams and organisations together and helping our work forces get more done. Leading vendors have been scrambling to release their apps and so far only a few have managed to fully integrate their solutions.
Here’s a list of WCC vendors
- Cisco Spark
- RingCentral
- Unify Circuit
- Mitel MiTeam
Various other world class software vendors have had messaging, content and people in one place for quite a while now, such as Salesforce.com’s Chatter which is built into their CRM software. Even Facebook has entered the corporate collaboration market recently with Workplace. The question is who will the customer call first for WCC?
What is WCC?
When you pull together voice, video, conferencing, messaging, collaboration and social networking you get WCC. Some refer to collaboration software as far to broad and in contrast, UC is far too narrow.
Also known as team collaboration software which could be described as a broader description of this type of technology, however for most, its pretty easy to understand what it is.
So WCC is all about team collaboration, less about email and phone calls. WCC software is quite an effective team work enabler especially for dispersed workforces, teams and departments.
Email inst going away, however WCC claims to drastically reduce the amount of emails pouring into the inboxes of your users. Mitel claims that their new team collaboration software MiTeam will reduce your email by up to 40%. That’s because solutions like these offer much better organisation or messages and media, able to bind conversations and content into one tidy message – driving our future towards contextual communications.
If you pull together unified communications, messaging and content into one tidy stream for users to enjoy in the workplace then things gets done. The less applications your users use and the move available the information is to the teams working together then there are no reasons or excuses for poor communication.
Moreover, task management has been built into a lot of WCC software. Work get’s simpler, more processed and deadlines adhered to if tasks are created for team based work.
“WCC is making communications sexy again, its another reason for Comms resellers to bang the ‘productivity’ drum again and offer their clients even more efficient working solutions.”
