What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?
Having spent some of the most exciting parts of my career solving for IoT challenges, the launch of our Enterprise Communications Platform (ECP) was an incredible milestone achievement this year. When I first joined Oracle, our vision for ECP was to build an engine that could deliver next-generation connected applications across industries. This solution would transform how our customers deliver the data and connectivity needed to power critical and evolving new use cases, all built on the high performance and security of OCI. After four years in the making, this has been an achievement I’m particularly proud of, not only for our business but also for the opportunity it presents to change how the world communicates, interacts, and engages.
Who is your business hero and why?
Steve Jobs. Simply put, he revolutionised the mobile phone and the telecommunications industry as a result. Jobs changed the way we approach consumer connectivity and democratized developer access to mobile technology, an innovative UI approach that we’re still seeing in today’s enterprise and consumer mobility market.
What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?
The Art of Being Authentic by T. Mark Meyer. I am on a constant journey of inner discovery and this book helped me define my real true centre and let go of issues that were holding me back from reaching my full potential.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?
The classic challenge of living on the brink of continuous innovation. 5G has arrived, but there are so many exciting opportunities for communications in 2024 and for me, the biggest challenge will be to keep focused on the things that will make the biggest impact for our business.
What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?
Not just my business, but I think Generative AI (GenAI) will truly have the greatest impact on all technology this year. In the communications industry, there’s incredible potential to improve operational efficiency and transform customer experiences, but I think regardless of what industry you’re in right now all businesses know it will be a critical tool to stay competitive and tackle their biggest challenges.
