What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?

The publishing of my new book: Ridiculously Easy to Do Business With – A practical guide to giving customers what they want-how and when they want it, has been very exciting. The concept has really struck a nerve and has generated a great deal of conversation and inquiries from speaking and consulting prospects around the world. In addition to my work in America, I will be travelling to Dubai and throughout Europe this fall to speak and work with clients to help them enhance their CX model and approach to become Ridiculoulsy Easy to Do Business With.

Who is your business hero and why?

My business heroes are entrepreneurs who take risks every day, putting everything on the line to build a business, create jobs and feed their families. It takes a special breed of business leader to accept the risk, work the extra hours and build something profitable and sustainable – day in and day out. I am an unapologetic, compassionate capitalist and believe that entrepreneurs will drive the future of innovation and employment.

What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?

The biggest mistakes have been the times when I thought that leadership meant simply handing responsibility to others in my company to get the work done while I went off and did other work. I made the cardinal mistake of abdicating rather than delegating. I’ve learned to stay involved, mentor, offer support, provide clarity of direction and celebrate success – together.

What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?

This is going to sound like an odd answer, but the science fiction book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card was the first book where I found myself truly immersed in a story and was able to turn off the world. That book began my love of reading. As far as business books, The Membership Economy by Robbie Kellman Baxter absolutely transformed my thinking about driving ongoing revenue.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?

Building sustainability and predictability in our business/revenue model as well as a significant brand extension for the “Ridiculously Easy” message and moniker.

What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?

As I engage in significant international speaking and consulting, any technology that helps smooth my journey, simplifies my hotel/flight/transport reservations and minimises inevitable travel disruptions is my daily go-to.
