Medallia has acquired Fields Healthcare Research, a Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved CAHPS® data collection company that specialises in patient healthcare experience research.

The acquisition will bring Medallia’s real-time signal capture capabilities and Fields’ comprehensive survey portfolio closer to the healthcare industry.

Medallia has been recently approved by CMS as “a vendor to administer HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Surveys” which evaluate the experience of patients to help inform customers and improve the quality of care.

A spokesperson for Fields said:

“Not only do we make it easier for healthcare organizations to comply with CAHPS requirements and avoid reductions in their Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, we also offer robust data reports and benchmarking insights to help improve patient experience.”

“With Medallia, we can now accelerate those efforts and help even more healthcare providers improve the patient experience.”

CMS includes specific CAHPS surveys as part of their public reporting program, including HCAHPS or what is also known as the CAHPS Hospital Survey, which contributes to CMS’ Value Based Purchasing initiatives.

In August, Medallia launched Healthcare Engagement Suite to enable insurers to engage members at key moments during their journey.
