What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?

I was fortunate that my company promoted me into a project leading role for AI. Besides defining state of the art use cases by leveraging AI for B2C, I learned about all the other dimensions to consider when implementing AI, like the EU AI act, the GAIRA framework, ethics and many other legal aspects. With this gained knowledge, I am able to professionally approach AI projects in order to implement those measures compliantly.

Who is your business hero and why?

I have always been a big fan of Apple in general. I share their belief that technology alone is not enough and it’s the seamless integration of technology (hardware and software) in our daily lives that brings the human race forward and that one can be the best version of themselves.

What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?

I remember back 5 years ago, just graduated from my Bachelor of Science and my first job at a tech startup in Zurich when I joined a big telco company in Switzerland, that I put a lot of pressure on myself. I always thought, that I needed to know everything and decisions were taken with more of a top down approach. I quickly noticed though that this didn’t feel right to me and the leader that I eventually would like to become. I read a lot about leadership of C-Level management of the biggest tech companies and wanted to reflect that immediately in my environment.

I started to work on a strong focus on crafting a vision and purpose for our team. By communicating (and living!) by those highest standards, the team bought in and contributes in ways not possible before. Today, I guess I see myself more as a leader who creates an environment for teams with highest standards where they can become the best versions of themselves and where the best idea wins arguments.

What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?

That one is easy for me: Sadhguru – Inner Engineering.
The book is a comprehensive guide to self-transformation, offering practical tools and insights to help individuals achieve inner peace, joy, and fulfillment through yogic practices and wisdom.

I got into Meditation a few years ago as this really benefitted my overall wellbeing and helps me make better decision in my professional life. It’s honestly quite a great toolset to train the mind to really focus on what matters in a certain moment.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?

It’s certainly AI. While it’s certainly impressive what you can do with AI, it’s definitely going to come down to how well companies can implement this technology for either internal use to make individuals more productive by providing AI-Tools or make the life of customers easier through AI. Customers and employees want the best experience possible; no matter if it’s AI or not.

These features need to be carefully crafted by considering not only tech, but psychology also in order to create amazing human-technology interactions for internal employees and customers. For customers, this requires deep understanding of every step of the customer journeys in order to leverage AI for better (or also decide against AI in certain use cases where it doesn’t benefit them).

What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?

I am going with AR/VR/Spacial Computing here. I was able to test Apple Vision Pro some weeks ago and the immersiveness was just incredible. Down the road, I could really see how customers will want to interact with Businesses through this technology from sales to activation and even customer care.

Imagine, that you are in for a new Smartphone. Instead of needing to go to your nearest store, you can sit on the couch, open the app of a smartphone maker and a representative comfortably joins the session to guide you through their newest products in your home where you can make a decision without the kind of pressure in a store with all the people around. By 3D models you can closely look at finishes and colors and so on. If you then need help with a certain feature, an agent automatically sees from their end what you see over your headset in order to help you best.

Spacial Computing has in my opinion the potential to implement technology in amazing new scenarios not possible with tablets, computers and smartphones as the technology adapts immersiveness, screen sizes etc to the use case/ need of the customer. It’s like the touchscreen interfaces that got rid of all the buttons as every app/ use case needs a slightly different user interface. Spacial computing is bringing that to the next level and will create an amazing playground for businesses.
AI will certainly help building these spacial computer experiences to make them seamless in our daily lives.
