SaaS web development platform Wix has announced an expansion of its ecommerce platform, allowing Wix users to accept payments across all channels.
The Wix POS System is intended as an omni-channel solution, unifying online and offline transactions on the Wix ecommerce platform. The integrations featured include synchronised inventory, orders, fulfilment, CRM, analytics, data and reports, with sales automatically reflected across Wix apps.
“We strive to provide Wix business owners with a complete business solution, and we’re thrilled to extend our offering to the physical world,” said Liat Karpel Gurwicz, Head of eCommerce Marketing at Wix.
Ecommerce Key Post-COVID-19
The company noted its role in facilitating a broader shift to ecommerce caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the social distancing rules implemented to fight against it. According to Wix, the number of businesses using Wix for online commerce grew by 45% between March 2020 and March 2021.
Despite the pandemic easing in many locations, Wix said it expected flexibility between online and physical transactions would remain a key part of the global economy going forwards.
The solution also incorporations a number of Wix POS hardware kits, including HP hardware terminals with customer displays, cash drawers, barcode scanners, receipt printers and Stripe Terminal card readers.
Wix also offers a Mobile POS via iOS and android apps, which connects with the Stripe Terminal card reader via Bluetooth. Wix POS is only available in the United States at present, though the company said its presence would expand in the future.
“The launch of our own POS solution comes at a time when businesses must have the agility to move seamlessly between their online presence and offline POS,” said Liat Karpel Gurwicz. “By offering an end-to-end solution, Wix users are able to engage customers and transact across all sales channels and manage their business from one powerful solution.”
