Hiding AI is just as bad. When automation is dressed up as a human, with the same tone, same signatures, no disclosure, customers feel tricked once they realize what’s happening. That sense of deception lingers longer than the original error. There have been multiple public incidents where backlash wasn’t about automation itself, but about finding out after the fact.

Shipping automation without redress is another classic failure. If there’s no clear way to challenge an outcome, request a review, or undo damage, frustration spikes fast.
