Vonage and SAP have partnered to create ‘next-generation’ communication and network APIs for enterprises.
The companies will work together to produce innovative new technologies that include generative AI and immersive services on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) with Vonage’s network APIs.

Vonage, part of the telecommunications company Ericsson, will give the Germany-based software company SAP access to its Vonage Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) network APIs, such as Quality-on-Demand (QoD), Number Verification, and Device Location.
Michael Ameling, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, SAP Business Technology Platform, believes the partnership could have a major impact on the industry: “This collaboration opens a world of possibilities for developers and businesses, empowering them to innovate and succeed like never before.
“Our partnership is not just about cutting-edge generative AI innovation, but about redefining the future, with network API integration and transformation.”
Vonage + SAP
The QoD API allows enterprises to bolster user experiences with ‘exceptional’ real-time experiences, according to Vonage’s press release, such as extended reality, autonomous vehicle support, and improved broadcasting.
With Vonage’s APIs, SAP will be able to utilise Device Location and Number Verification APIs to design authentication features for its customers that can help to protect them against fraud.
Internet of Things (IoT) and Device Location APIs can strengthen asset tracking, fleet management, and track and trace by incorporating network-based location data.
QoD can also be enhanced to assist with sustainability using advanced technologies, augmented reality training, and data visualisation.
Immersive analytics can use data from the network to bring greater insights and understanding, while also upgrading decision-making capabilities.
Seckin Arikan, Head of Business Unit API, Vonage, talked through its motivations for collaborating with SAP:
“Together, we aim to make new capabilities available that can help developers create new applications for enterprises to reimagine their business, improve customer experiences, and create new communications and engagement capabilities.”
Vonage CPaaS
Vonage CPaaS enables over 1.6 million developers to add communication features into applications, workflows, and systems using communications APIs.
It has a full suite of communications APIs like video, voice, messaging, and verification and a portfolio of AI, low-code, and no-code components that can make it quicker and easier to develop applications.
Vonage is also able to take advantage of its parent company Ericsson by offering developers the potential to leverage 5G capabilities.
In July this year, Vonage announced plans to introduce AI-powered SIP capabilities for its SIP Trunking customers.
The “intelligent” new features will look to simplify the SIP utilisation process by providing users with access to AI voice engagement solutions via pre-built code and low-code/no-code applications.
Accessible from within Vonage’s dashboard, the tool will also allow developers and enterprises to “easily” deploy their SIM trunks across the globe.
Headquartered in New Jersey and with offices around the world, Vonage describes itself as a “global cloud communications leader”, which helps enterprises speed up their digital transformation.
