Mobile Order and Pay: Oracle’s Latest Innovation to Improve Restaurant Experiences

The new Oracle MICROS Simphony solution for mobile orders and payments will support companies in serving customers from anywhere.

Whether a customer is picking an order up at the curbside or dining-in, the handheld POS (Point of Sale) and payment device for restaurants allows servers to place orders and send them to the kitchen in seconds.

When it’s time to close out a check, servers can also accept multiple forms of payment, including mobile wallets, contactless payments, and “guest pay mode”, as well as allowing patrons to tap, dip, or swipe their chosen payment card.

Simplifying Customer Service in Restaurants

Previously known as “MICROS”, the Oracle Food and Beverage ecosystem provides restaurants with access to innovative technology created using more than 45 years of industry experience.

The new mobile payment solution runs on the Oracle Payments Cloud Service, so companies can leverage transparent payment terms with no hidden fees while enhancing customer experience.

The Oracle MICROS Simphony solution gives restaurant owners an all-in-one solution for managing transactions and restaurant interactions.

Companies can leverage everything from menu creation tools to multiple payment methods, with a single line of support and a complete view of their costs.

The mobile order and pay offering will also allow companies to:

  • Improve customer service: The Oracle MICROS Simphony technology provides restaurants with a comprehensive, portable tool for delivering customer service. The solution supports all types of restaurant environments and can automatically sync data and process payments when a connection is re-established after a drop.
  • Limit administrative burdens: Simphony offers restaurant operators a complete transaction platform where they can manage multiple menus, and configurations across all franchise and corporate locations. Information is stored on a single database within the Oracle Cloud, and users can easily access the information they need in real-time.
  • Boost security: As a tamper-resistant solution, the Oracle MICROS Simphony solution runs on Android payment devices with powerful 3DES encryption. The technology also comes with a secure PCI DSS service, DUKPT key management, and PCI PED 5.X.

Supporting Modern Restaurant Owners

As Simon de Montfort Walker, SVP and General Manager at Oracle Food and Beverage, states:

Consumer tolerance for wait times is short, and it’s only exacerbated by tight labor conditions. Operators need to improve service times and overall efficiency—a mobile-first strategy can do just that while simultaneously improving the customer experience.

Oracle’s Simphony technology aims to enable this, allowing companies to spend more time focusing on their guests and less time managing transactions.

The Oracle MICROS Simphony technology is now generally available now within the US, joining the newly announced Oracle Applications Platform in its rapidly expanding portfolio.
