Digital travel and lifestyle platform airasia Super App has kickstarted a partnership with Google Cloud to enhance CX through digital innovation.

Indeed, the companies will develop a cloud-powered co-innovation ecosystem that surfaces new capabilities for engaging consumers and meeting their daily travel needs.

With such an ecosystem, airasia Super App – which operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines – targets many more positive outcomes. These include:

  • Fostering an agile culture and co-innovation talent engine
  • Ensuring seamless user access anytime and anywhere, on any device
  • Unlocking data-driven insights to fuel growth
  • Empowering partners and developers to co-innovate and contribute

A “co-innovation” talent engine is perhaps the most compelling aim to deliver next-gen digital experiences, consisting of AirAsia Allstars and Google Cloud technologists. While the companies do not give much away, they strive to “shape technological advances for the region and beyond” by establishing a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).

The strategy to “ensure seamless user access” is another intriguing example of how airasia Super App plans to inspire digital growth. Harnessing the scalable infrastructure, microservices, and serverless technologies of Google Cloud, the app may run smoothly regardless of demand and internet connectivity. As such, the companies provide next-level app accessibility to travelers.

However, Amanda Woo, CEO at airasia Super App, has a much more transformational vision for the future. She stated:

What we’re announcing today is just the beginning, and we look forward to exploring further co-innovation initiatives with Google, whether in digital travel planning, self-driving cars, cloud gaming, start-up investment, or supporting frontline workers through Google Workspace.

For now, at least, the companies will combine their core competencies to develop IT talent, co-create software for digital CX innovation, and dig up data-driven insights to share with enterprises that host offerings within the app.

Giving his thoughts on the deal, Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said:

airasia Super App is an inspiring example of a company that’s innovating using cloud-first technologies to better reach and serve their customers. We’re proud to be working with (their) team to further develop talent and an open innovation ecosystem to meet diverse digital lifestyle needs across Southeast Asia.

The partnership is the latest in a series of exciting CX-related announcements from Google. Perhaps most interestingly was the launch of a new CCaaS platform, taking the lead of other recognizable brands, including Zoom, Microsoft, and Zendesk.
