What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?

Well, obviously, being selected by CX Today to be a CX All-Star is top of my list, but a close second was hearing from a senior leader that I worked with a few years ago – the forward-looking view I gave of their business back then, which they didn’t listen to, funnily enough, panned out exactly the way I said it would, and so they want to reengage now to help them navigate the next phase of their journey.

Who is your business hero and why?

My co-founder, Simon Harrison. His knowledge and passion never cease to impress and inspire me.

What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?

I’d have to say working for “the man” for too many years. The fun really starts when you are in control of your own destiny. That said, Simon keeps telling me the biggest business mistake I’ve ever made was buying a Windows laptop and not Mac. Hmmmm.

What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?

Apparently, I’ve not read any, according to ChatGPT, who’s top 50 list of inspirational books eludes me. Now I feel bad.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?

I was going to say filling in forms, but I guess now it has to be reading 50 inspirational books in the next 8 months.

What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?

As someone who writes research and advises organisations, I believe that the technology that will have the greatest impact on my business this year will be the one that is the most overhyped, least understood, and most poorly deployed. That opens up a lot of acronyms to cite, but if I had to pick just one, then obviously, AI tops the list, with VoC and WEM shamefully still following closely behind.
