Altibox, one of the largest regional operators in Norway and Denmark, is employing Ciena’s Waveserver 5 coherent optical solution to create a flexible and durable network for cloud providers, global webscale providers and large enterprises. Altibox Carrier can now respond to unpredictable demands faster and deliver high bandwidth connectivity up to 800Gb/s across any path. The benefits of Ciena’s technology are key to Altibox Carrier as it launches its subsea and terrestrial network to support growing traffic driven by video, the internet of things, and new cloud services.

Ciena’s coherent optical solution allows Altibox Carrier to create an open, flexible architecture to support new high bandwidth routes that connect data centre to key digital hubs across Europe. Altibox Carrier is also strengthening its NO-UK submarine cable which is 670km long and connects routes between the Nordics, UK, and US.
Ciena Waveserver 5 platform is powered by Wavelogic 5 Extreme and 6500 flexible grid colourless, directionless and contentionless open line system, all managed by Ciena’s Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) domain controller. Network operators can have freedom of choice of technology and consumption models thanks to the openness of Ciena’s coherent optical solution.
