Salesforce has credited its Slack acquisition as a significant part of its $7.33 billion fourth-quarter revenues.

These revenues represent the best quarter that Salesforce has had “in its history”, as the company benefits from businesses around the world supercharging hybrid working models with Slack.

Since the acquisition eight months ago, the platform has evolved considerably. New additions such as Slack Clips – a feature that enables users to send short audio and video clips – and Slack Huddle – an app that facilitates virtual huddles – seem popular.

Building on this, Bret Taylor, President and Chief Operating Officer of Slack, said on an earnings call:

Slack continues to exceed our expectations, and I think it’s benefiting not only from the trend toward this new way of working that we’re all figuring out right here in Salesforce Tower, but it’s also benefiting being a part of our Customer 360 portfolio.

Within the Customer 360 portfolio, Slack integrates with Salesforce Sales, Service, and Marketing Clouds to create a universal collaboration tool.

Such a tool helps departments create alliances across the business and tap into them to improve CX and bolster digital transformation efforts.

These efforts are seemingly picking up pace across the CX sphere. As Marc Benioff, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Salesforce, added:

Every company that I speak to, these CEOs that I’m speaking to, they’re all going through major digital transformations. And those customers, they all are all beginning and ending with the customer.

Salesforce plays a critical role in supporting these companies through this process. “Our job remains to help these companies grow and achieve this transformation,” Benioff adds.

For example, KPMG and Scotiabank has implemented Sales Cloud to build digitally native sales teams with new Salesforce applications like revenue intelligence and the new Slack integrations.

Meanwhile, PayPal has expanded their use of Slack, using capabilities such Slack Huddles for thousands of real-time audio calls every week, and Slack chatbots to respond to employee questions, log IT tickets, and more.

Enhancing these existing offerings seems to be the strategy as Salesforce moves forwards. “We don’t have any plans for material M&A in the near term,” concludes Taylor. “Slack is our focus.”
