The modern contact centre is evolving to look quite different from the traditional call centre.

The serried ranks of agents all glued to the desk phones all day is gradually being replaced by a much more flexible, organic approach to organisation and workflow.

The great driver of this change, of course, is wireless and mobile technology. Thanks to mobile, plus the internet-based connectivity of the Cloud, there is nothing to say these days that your contact centre agents even have to work from the same location. As long as they can get online, they can still provide service.

But even within the confines of a single building, wireless means freedom. With products like Sennheiser’s DW Pro 2 wireless headset, agents need no longer be chained to the contact assembly line by their earpiece wires. They can move around the office to consult colleagues, check a quick fact, even make a coffee, all while remaining available and maintaining the flow of conversation.

Let’s take a closer look, then, at what Sennheiser’s DW Pro 2 headset has to offer in the modern contact centre.

What can it do?

The Sennheiser DW Pro 2 is a double-sided DECT wireless headset available in five versions:

  • DW PRO 2: A dual connectivity solution which plugs into both work desk phones and softphones
  • DW PRO 2 ML: Connects to both a deskphone and softphone, and optimised for Skype for Business
  • DW PRO 2 PHONE: Compatible with a deskphone only
  • DW PRO 2 USB: Compatible with a softphone only
  • DW PRO 2 USB ML: Compatible with a softphone only and optimised for Skype for Business

The DW Pro 2 makes no compromise between audio quality and mobility, and includes Sennheiser’s trademark Voice Clarity natural wideband audio along with ultra noise cancelling at the point of microphone pick up. It also includes ActiveGard noise suppression to protect user’s ears from sudden volume increases.

The build quality is superb, with high performance materials carefully chosen to achieve the best balance of durability and comfort for the wearer, all put together in a professional, modern design.

As a DECT solution, mobility is obviously a key asset, and the DW Pro 2 provides a stable connection at a radius of up to 55 metres from the base station, or 180 metres with a direct line of sight. It offers 8 hours of talk time on a single charge, extended to 12 hours if the Voice Clarity wideband audio is switched off, and it offers superfast charging, with 50 per cent power replenished in just 20 minutes.

UC Today Opinion – Our favourite feature

Modern businesses crave flexibility in all areas, and the contact centre is no different. Not only does wireless technology aid productivity and interaction in the workplace, it is also coming to be the expected standard. The Sennheiser DW Pro 2 enables businesses to deliver against that expectation with a high performance headset which matches any wired solution for audio quality, build quality and comfort.

Our favourite feature is the fact that call handling is built into the headset, providing for a true wireless experience. There is no need for an agent to rush back to their desk to answer, hang up or transfer a call, it can all be done directly from the DW Pro 2.
