Facebook has launched an API for Instagram messaging at its developer conference, F8 Refresh.
A number of companies have already announced new integrations with the API, such as conversational messaging platform Heymarket, which allows brands to manage messaging in a single location and shared inbox, with automation capabilities and integrations with other SaaS offerings.
“We’re excited to launch our support for Instagram Messaging,” said Amit Kulkarni, CEO and Co-Founder of Heymarket. “By linking Instagram and their SaaS apps, businesses can provide better customer service and transform their Instagram engagement into sales, customer insights and growth. Heymarket makes that possible all within one streamlined interface.”
The API links Instagram businesses accounts with the Heymarket platform, in turn allowing companies to manage Instagram messaging from within their CRM or ecommerce platforms.
“We are thrilled that Heymarket is launching their support for Instagram Messaging,” said Konstantinos Papamiltiadis, VP of Platform Partnerships at Messenger from Facebook. “By integrating the Messenger API for Instagram, businesses and developers can effectively scale messaging workflows to better own the customer experience and build more authentic relationships.”
AI-powered customer engagement solution Pypestream also said it was adding Instagram messaging to its roster of supported channels, as did conversational messaging company Gupshup.
“Instagram has emerged as a highly engaging social media platform that has attracted several businesses,” explained Beerud Sheth, Gupshup Co-founder and CEO. “With our rich set of conversational tools, powered by conversational AI, we can make Instagram conversations richer, more contextual and personalised. With these, Instagram Messaging will serve as a new monetisation channel for businesses apart from enabling more engaging conversations.”
The Gupshup platform allows companies to carry out two-way conversations with followers across channels.
“We are delighted that Gupshup is launching the Messenger API support for Instagram. The Messenger API for Instagram is now available for all developers who make it possible for brands to improve and enhance messaging experiences with customers,” said Konstantinos Papamiltiadis.
