CRM giant Salesforce and enterprise communications platform Slack have just concluded their Success from Anywhere: Your Digital HQ event.

Salesforce acquired Slack in a $27.7bn deal last month, with the event serving as an opportunity to showcase its conception of a “digital HQ” for location-independent success.

“As my commute moves from the freeway to the hallway, every organisation in the world has an imperative,” said Bret Taylor, President & COO, Salesforce, at the event. “How can we find growth, and how can we find success in this all-digital, work from anywhere world? That’s what we’re building with Slack and Salesforce, we’re building your digital HQ, the platform that can power digital sales, digital customer service, digital commerce, digital marketing, all the tools that you need to find growth and find success no matter where your employees are, no matter where your partners are and no matter where your customers are.”

The event featured customer stories, with IBM detailing how the solution is helping with faster decisions while T-Mobile discussed how Slack and Salesforce were aiding it with its customer and employee focuses.

Embracing Digital Transformation

“Digital transformation really accelerated our need to have people interacting together and making connections between folks and technology out into the business,” said Craig Thomas, VP – CORE, Enterprise Technology Solutions, T-Mobile, also speaking at the event.

“Slack was a vital platform in doing just that. It gave us immediate connectivity; it gave us the ability to work with files. It really held our team together.”

Salesforce said the acquisition of Slack enabled the creation of a combined offering which connects people across the Salesforce platform in a single interface. Slack is duly becoming the interface for Salesforce Customer 360, with every Salesforce cloud and industry solution integrated with Slack.

Finally, Arvind Krishna, Chairman & CEO, IBM, discussed a number of ways the company was utilising Slack and Salesforce, including in marketing and with AI helpdesks.

“We began to actually infuse AI into Slack using Slack Box,” he said. “It was a great example as the pandemic began, and people weren’t sure how to get help. Lots of people created their own Box where you can actually just ask a question at the portal, which either gives an answer or directs something to the right person – It became a wonderful way to communicate.”
