A huge 58% of remote agents have reported that their productivity has surged while working from home.

A study from internet provider Talk Talk also revealed that bosses agree working remotely has had a positive impact on the typical working day as well as their employees.

When business leaders were asked what the benefits were from having staff work remotely, 30% said their teams have been more productive, while 35% said they had also been more collaborative.

Tristia Harrison, chief executive at Talk Talk, said remote agents’ productivity levels are so high they are able to achieve a week’s worth of work in four days.

She said: “With flexible working we’re becoming so much more productive it seems that Britain is now getting five days’ work done in four, which is encouraging as Britain builds back from the crisis.”

On top of getting their work done during a global health emergency, 24% of workers reported they had started to learn a language over lockdown, while 22% had worked on their cooking. 15% had brushed up on their baking and 13% had got into gardening.

The results of the survey come as NHS professionals have today expressed concerns over a lack of COVID-19 plan B as cases and deaths soar in the UK.

Yesterday Britain recorded 223 deaths in the highest toll in seven months.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid extended emergency COVID powers for another six months yesterday and claimed the measures used to impose house-arrest, close businesses and schools, and restrict gatherings, were “still necessary”.
